Quebec to Accept 5,000 new Applications under QSWP- The Program is Likely to open soon

The Quebec government has announced to accept 5,000 new applications for immigration under popular Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP). The QSWP is likely to open soon for its first application intake this year. Dates for the next QSWP application intake will be announced soon. The announcement regarding the reopening of QSWP was on the cards for a long time. The intake for the financial year 2016-17 was capped last year only and as the new financial year has arrived; the Quebec government must be looking to begin the new application intake soon.

Quebec will be accepting applications under its set quota between the periods, i.e. April 1, 2017 to March 31, 2018. The first intake of QSWP this year will accept five thousands applications, the date for which is yet to be announced.

Quebec Skilled Worker Program- a popular pathway to get Canadian PR

Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP) is the one of the most popular pathways to obtain Permanent Residency in Canada. The overseas skilled workers looking to live and work in Quebec, Canada, may apply for the Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ) through Mon projet Qubec online system. Candidates will be assessed based on their total point scored in the system. Selected applicants will get the Quebec Selection Certificate, which in turn will make them eligible to apply for permanent residency in Canada to Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Key changes in the QSWP Points System

A few key changes have already been announced in the point system and processing of the Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP) in the first week of March, 2017. The minimum immigration point score needed for the single applicant in the preliminary round has been increased to 43 points which was 42 points earlier. Similarly, points rose to 52 points from 50 points for an application from a couple.

Moreover, the qualifying score has also been scored for the final round. For single applicants in the final threshold, qualifying score is 50 now, which was 49 points earlier. Likewise, the qualifying score for the couple has been raised to 59 points, which used to be 57 points earlier.

Area of Training Points reduced

Points being allocated for the Area of Training have also been reduced. total 16 points used to be allocated for the Area of training in the top tier earlier, which has now been reduced to 12 points. Similarly, areas of training which earlier used to get 12 points have now been reduced to 9 points.

New Rules for CSQ

The new rules for receiving the maximum application for the Certificate of Selection (CSQ) via Mon projet Qubec will be applicable w.e.f. April 01, 2017 to March 31, 2018.
