Quebec the premier province of Canada has announced a new economic immigration application intake system, based on Federal Express Entry System for its Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP). Like express entry, the new intake system will also follow Expression of Interest (EOI) System for the popular QSWP. The immigration ministry of Quebec is determined to launch its own version of existing Express Entry System, launched in January 2015.
Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP) is Distinct
The immigration system of Quebec province of Canada, i.e. QSWP, is distinct from other Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) of Canada based on its autonomy. As of now application intake system of QSWP is based on first come, first served pattern. However, this first come, first served intake of applications (via Mon Projet Quebec application portal) will be soon replaced by the new Expression of Interest (EOI) system will continue to accept applications from cap-exempt QSWP applicants with an employment offer and temporary residents of Quebec till the time EOI system is in place.
The Canada PR aspirants are eagerly waiting for the next application intake of Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP), as the same has not been announced for last one year. If the new system for QSWP comes in to effect, a huge number of applicants are expected to apply once again for this key immigration program of Quebec province.
New system will be based on Express Entry Model
As already confirmed, new system will be modelled on the popular Express Entry System of Canada. Hence, similar to EE system, the eligible candidates for Quebec Skilled Worker Program, will have to submit an EOI (Express of Interest) as the first step of their QSWP application procedure.
Moreover similar to the Express Entry system, profile submitted by the applicants for QSWP will remain valid for 12 months
CRS like Point System applicable
Similar to the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of Express Entry system, the applicants selected for the QSWP- Expression of Interest (EOI) pool, will get a definite point score based on their profile.
The point system of QSWP will be more like the CRS point system, which allocates points to the applicants based on their age, education, work experience, language skills, etc.
Periodic Invitation Rounds similar to EE draws
The applicants will be selected from the EOI pool of the QSWP via periodic invitation rounds. In these invitation rounds, those candidates will be chosen who meet or surpass the preannounced cut off marks. The applicants such selected will receive the Invitation to Apply (ITA) for the Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ).
The candidates who receive the ITA for CSQ, will get window of 90 days to submit complete application for the Quebec Selection Certificate. Once the CSQ is allocated, applicants can apply to IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship of Canada) for the Permanent Residency. The precise date of commencement along with the further details about this EOI based point system will be announced soon by the Provincial Government of Quebec.
