Find below the key updates shared by Sean Fraser in his latest tweet for PGWP holders:

  • Canada is now extending post-graduate work permits to international graduates whose permits expired or will expire between September 20th, 2021 and December 31, 2022.
  • Tens of thousands of previous foreign students will get an extra open work permit of 18 months, which will give them an opportunity to stay in Canada longer, and help businesses find the workers they require while allowing the government to continue to attract global talent.
  • Details regarding how to apply for the special measure will be made available in the coming weeks on official websites.

Explaining further about the essence of this step, the minister mentioned in his tweet that as Canada’s economy continues to recover, there remain hundreds of thousands of vacancies waiting to be filled. Canada is easing immigration process for applicants

Recently, Canadian government is constantly making changes and announcing updates in the interest of immigration applicants. A few of the most recent Canada immigration updates are as follows:

  • Express Entry has resumed the 6 months processing time for Express entry PR application received from applicants post Invitation to Apply (ITA)
  • The IRCC will complete the switch from NOC system 2016 to NOC 2021 in November 2022. The NOC 2021 presents a TEER system, which has six categories: TEER category 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. In NOC 2016, eligible occupations for Express Entry were from Skill Level B and above. However, under NOC 2021, TEER 3 and above will be eligible.
  • The IRCC to hold occupation-based EE draws in next few months. It has proposed these amendments under Bill C-19, providing the immigration minister more freedom regarding inviting overseas skilled worker candidates in the Express Entry pool.

In wake of above positive announcements, it is the right time to prepare your immigration application and apply for PR (Permanent Residence) visa in Canada.
