The Express Entry Human Capital Priorities (HCP) Stream of popular Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) of Canada is open again. The OINP is the widely popular immigration program of major Canadian province Ontario. The Express Entry stream of OINP opens to choose and notify the applicants from the federal express entry pool of candidates.

The Human Capital Priorities stream is opening almost after a year as it was last opened in May, 2016 and after that it was temporarily halted by the Ontario along with few other streams.

Express Entry Candidates with low CRS score will be benefited

The candidates registered in the express entry but have low CRS score, i.e. (400-445) are likely to get benefited from opening of the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities (HCP) Stream of OINP. The nomination received from Ontario provides extra 600 CRS points to the registered applicants in the express entry. Now with the increased CRS score such candidates become eligible to receive Invitation to Apply (ITA) from Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada in the subsequent draw of express entry system.

Key eligibility requirements of Express entry HCP stream

As an applicant you cannot apply directly to express entry stream of OINP, rather, you first should have received a NOI (notification of interest) from the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The OINP has the access to the federal express entry pool of candidates from where it chooses the candidates who fulfill the required eligibility requirements, i.e.

  • The candidates who have CRS score of minimum 400
  • The candidates who are eligible for any of the three key streams of the express entry, i.e.
    • Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
    • Federal Skilled Trades (FST)
    • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
  • The applicants applying under the Federal Skilled Worker stream need to have minimum one year of work experience in last five years.
  • The CEC class applicants require one year of work experience in last 3 years
  • While creating express entry profile you must have shown the interest in residing either ‘Ontario’ or ‘All provinces and territories’ to be considered for OINP- Express entry stream
  • Need to have academic education of Bachelor’s level or higher,
  • Prove the language proficiency in English or French (Minimum CLB 7)
  • Need to show settlement funds, to convince authorities that you are able to support you and your family members, on arrival in the province.

How it works?

The candidates selected by the OINP from express entry pool, will get the Notification of Interest (NOI). The NOI is basically an invitation for an applicant to apply in the Human capital priorities stream of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).

Once you receive the NOI from Ontario, you must apply in the OINP within 45 days of the receipt of NOI. If you apply in OINP and selected by province, you will get the Provincial Nomination Certificate from the Ontario. The Nomination certificate will mean that 600 additional CRS points added to your current express entry score. Your increased CRS score makes you eligible for the ITA (Invitation to apply) for Canadian Permanent residency from IRCC.
