Next Express Entry draw- Will IRCC invite FSW category Candidates?

The Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted 13 Express Entry draws this year until date. Incidentally, all these draws were the program-specific draws either for Canadian Experience Class (CEC) category candidates or for the candidates with provincial nomination.

Hence, the candidates registered under Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) category are still waiting for the first invitation round this year.

First FSW Category EE draw of the year

This year until date, the IRCC has invited total 55,390 candidates to apply for provincial nomination. Now considering the annual invitation target of 108,500 of the EE system the IRCC will issue 53,110 more invitations this year, which means little less than 50 percent invitations yet to be issued in 2021.

Therefore, there are still reasons to stay positive for the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) category candidates.

EE Pool Status

As per Express Entry pool status on April 12, 2021, more than 10,000 candidates had the CRS score above 470 CRS points. This shows, there is long que of FSW category candidates waiting for ITA (Invitation to Apply) from IRCC. Hence, it look unlikely that the Canadian government will keep the all-program Express entry draw on hold for a long.

Explore the PNP pathway

Though, FSW candidates require staying positive, however, at the same time, if there is slimmest chance available for raising your CRS score you must go for the same. Obtaining bonus points by enhancing your IELTS or learning French, etc. are few good ways of earning some crucial points.

However, if you want to add massive 600 CRS points to your EE account, obtaining provincial nomination the best option.

Once you get provincial nomination through a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), you will get provincial nomination and you do not have to rely on the FSW category draw only for your ITA (Invitation to Apply). Even if the IRCC opens PNP category draw, your selection will be obvious in that draw.

Some popular Canadian PNPs are:

  • Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP)
  • Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP)
  • Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP)
  • Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), etc.
