Next Express Entry Draw- Is IRCC going to change Express Entry draw trend?

On September 1, 2021, the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) opened its 33rd Express Entry draw of the year. As all the draws opened this year, 1st September draw was also a program-specific draw. The IRCC conducted this draw for Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates only.

The IRCC has followed some key trends this year in wake of the global pandemic, such as, conducting program-specific draws only. The second trend it has followed this year is opening the back-to-back EE draws for PNP and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates. Let us find out whether IRCC is breaking the trend now.

No, back to back EE draws in first week of September

In the most recent EE draw, the IRCC did not hold two draws in two days; rather it opened only one draw for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates. Now, this may be a sign of changing trend for the draw results of the EE system.

We have seen this year that whenever the immigration department of Canada holds a single draw for PNP, in the upcoming draw, it come up with a massive Canadian Experience Class (CEC) category draw dropping the CRS score requirement drastically. If this happens, we must be ready for the huge number of ITAs (Invitations to Apply) and relatively low CUT OFF in the next EE draw.

Is there any possibility of a FSW category draw?

Another possibility may please the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) category candidates, as one may wonder if IRCC is planning to come up with an all-program draw inviting all category candidates including FSW. Although, the chances of that happening are very slim at now, however, you never know what IRCC has kept in its kitty for the upcoming draws. Hence, considering the unpredictability of the draws, all results are possible in the next few draws of federal EE system.

Is this the right time to apply for Canadian Permanent Resident (PR) Visa?

The Canadian government has opened its border for the fully vaccinated travellers for non-essential travel as well from 7 September 2021. Moreover, in last few weeks, the IRCC has eased various measures taken earlier for Covid-19. Hence, it is possibly the right time to start your Canadian PR visa application.

If you are worried about no FSW category draws, you can always choose the PNP nomination pathway to enhance your CRS score and get the ITA (Invitation to Apply) in a PNP specific Express Entry System draw.
