Hurry! Apply for Australian Skilled Visa Now- DIBP has Released the New Occupation Lists

Australian Government has released the New Skilled Occupation lists for the year 2017-18. These lists are crucial as far as marking application for temporary or permanent skilled visa in Australia. The Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) has released both Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) and Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL), which will be effective from July 1, 2017.

These are the latest skilled occupation lists of Australia, which replaced the earlier SOL and CSOL lists. The candidates interested in applying for different Skilled Visas in Australia need to nominate an occupation from the relevant occupation list.

New Occupation Lists released by DIBP

Both the occupation lists released by Australia are relevant to few specific Visa Categories only, i.e. You must nominate an occupation from MLTSSL if you are applying for the visa categories:
  • Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189)- Point Tested visa
  • Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 489)- Family nominated
  • Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) – Graduate Work Stream.
  • Combined List of Eligible Occupations
Moreover, you require nominating an occupation from the Combined list of Eligible Skilled Occupations (includes occupations from MLTSSL and STSOL), if you are applying for any of the following visa categories:
  • Employer Nominated Scheme (subclass 186) – Direct Entry Stream
  • Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190)
  • Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 489)  - State or Territory nominated
  • Temporary Work (Skilled) visa (subclass 457)
  • Training visa (subclass 407)???? - Nomination eligibility type 2 – Occupational training to enhance skills in an eligible occupation
Both the revised occupation lists of Australia will be effective from July 1, 2017.

Key Changes made in the Revised Occupation Lists

The key changes made to these lists are as follows:
  • A total of 12 occupations have been entirely removed from these lists
  • A few occupations have been added to the lists for certain visa categories
  • A number of additional occupations have moved between the STSOL to the MLTSSL
  • The caveats on certain occupations have been revised
  • Caveats on occupations now apply to both the Temporary Work (Skilled) visa -subclass 457) and the Employer Nominated Scheme -subclass 186) – Direct Entry Stream.
