Latest Travel Update and exemptions for International students moving to Canada

In last few months, the pandemic caused situation has improved considerably across Canada. This is the reason that IRCC (Immigration Refugees, and Citizenship Canada) has relaxed various travel measures and restrictions, imposed earlier, keeping in mind the situation and precautions at that point of time.

Now, all fully vaccinated travellers can travel to Canada without any pre-entry Covid-19 test requirement. Find out latest travel measures and exemptions application to International students.

Canada Travel Updates for International students

To become eligible to enter Canada as a foreign student, you must fulfil three requirements:

  1. You need to qualify as a fully vaccinated traveller unless you are a minor student (under the age of 18 years).
  2. You need to have a valid study permit or a letter of introduction showing you were approved for a study permit, unless you do not need one.
  3. You need to be attending a designated learning institution (DLI).

Even if you qualify as a fully vaccinated traveller, you must have a 14-day quarantine plan in place before arriving in Canada. The border services officer will make the final decision about whether or not you qualify.

What you need to travel to Canada as a student 18 years of age or older.

In case, you are applying for a study permit, apply online. To travel to Canada as a student of 18 years or above, you must bring:

  • a valid study permit, or a port of entry letter of introduction that shows you were approved for a study permit
  • a valid letter of acceptance from the DLI you are enrolled in
  • proof that you have sufficient money to support yourself and any family members who accompany you to Canada
  • proof of vaccination

What you need to travel to Canada as a minor student (under 18 years)

  • In case, you are a minor student (under 18 years); you do not have to qualify as a fully vaccinated traveller.
  • A minor child need a valid passport or travel document to come to Canada, however, s/he may not need a study permit.

A border services officer will make the final decision at the border in both the above-mentioned cases.
