Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced a new French-Language Proficiency Express Entry draw on July 22, 2026. In this round, 5,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were issued to eligible candidates seeking Canadian permanent residence.
The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required to receive an invitation was 399, making this one of the notable category-based selection rounds for candidates with French-language proficiency.
According to IRCC, if multiple candidates had the same CRS score, invitations were issued based on the date and time their Express Entry profiles were submitted. Candidates with a score of 399 needed to have created their profile before the published tie-breaking timestamp to receive an invitation.
Canada continues to use category-based Express Entry draws to address labour market priorities and support the country's immigration objectives. The French-language proficiency category is designed to attract skilled professionals who can contribute to French-speaking communities across Canada.
Candidates who meet the required level of French proficiency and satisfy all eligibility requirements under the Express Entry system may receive invitations through these dedicated selection rounds.
Individuals with an active Express Entry profile should regularly review and update their information. Changes such as improved language test results, additional skilled work experience, higher educational qualifications, or other eligible updates may improve a candidate's CRS score and overall competitiveness.
Candidates interested in future French-language draws should also ensure that their language test results remain valid and that all supporting information in their profile is accurate.
IRCC continues to conduct regular Express Entry draws throughout the year as part of Canada's immigration program. While future invitation rounds and CRS cut-offs depend on government immigration priorities and the number of eligible candidates in the pool, category-based draws remain an important pathway for skilled workers.
Prospective applicants should monitor future Express Entry announcements and maintain an up-to-date profile to maximize their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply for Canadian permanent residence.
