India-Australia ECTA Agreement- 1,800 Indian chefs & yoga instructors to get 4-year visa in Australia

India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA), has come in to effect on March 30, 2023. The ECTA is expected to reinforce the India-Australia trade from $31 billion to over $45-50 billion in 5 years. In addition, this agreement will also benefit the aspirants of study and work and holiday visa in Australia. ECTA Benefits for Australia visa aspirants

The new trade agreement is expected to strengthen the ties between India and Australia at various levels. Find below its positive effects on the Australia immigration aspirants in India:

  • A total of 1,800 Indian chefs and yoga instructors will receive four-year visas under the ECTA
  • The treaty to benefit 100,000 Indian students from post-study work visas for up to 4 years on a reciprocal basis to benefit from the pact.
  • Australia will also accept at least 1,000 young Indians between 18 and 30 years to work while on holiday for a year with a Work and Holiday Visa or a backpacker visa.
  • The pact is likely to recognize professional qualifications as well as other occupations mutually.
  • With this, a Mutual Recognition Agreement in different fields, i.e. nursing and architecture, between professionals from India and Australia will continue and allow these workers to travel between these two countries.
