India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA), has come in to effect on March 30, 2023. • A total of 1,800 Indian chefs and yoga instructors will receive four-year visas under the ECTA
• The treaty to benefit 100,000 Indian students from post-study work visas for up to 4 years on a reciprocal basis to benefit from the pact.
• Australia will also accept at least 1,000 young Indians between 18 and 30 years to work while on holiday for a year with a Work and Holiday Visa or a backpacker visa.
• The pact is likely to recognize professional qualifications as well as other occupations mutually.
