Does Learning French Increase Your Chances of Getting Canadian PR visa?

The Skilled worker applicants applying for Permanent Resident (PR) visa in Canada through Express Entry immigration System have to go through a CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System). The candidate scoring high CRS score often get the ITA (Invitation to apply) for Canadian PR visa from Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

However, sometimes, despite having a decent profile, it becomes difficult for an applicant to get a good point score in the federal Express Entry System. As a result, they keep waiting for the invitation, in the pool of candidates for months. Hence, to get the timely ITA, you must have good score based on six selection factors of the EE system.

Six selection factors of Express Entry Systems

Once you register your profile in the EE system under the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) category, you must have a decent point score based on six selection factors, i.e. age, education, language proficiency, work experience, adaptability and arranged employment. The cumulative of the points earned based on all these factors makes your total CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score.

Points for Language proficiency

While most other factors are stable, there is one factor, which depends on your proficiency in English or French language. You must have at least Canadian Language Benchmark or CLB 7 level of proficiency in either English or French level. However, if you want to get excellent points in the EE system, you must try to score CLB 8 or 9 score.

Benefits of French proficiency

For the first official language factor in EE system, you can get up to 160 points. Moreover, you can obtain 50 additional points for the French language skills.

You can check the CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System)additional points table above to find out how crucial your French language skills point can be to make a wining CRS score and later getting the ITA (Invitation to Apply) for Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) from Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
