Didn't Receive ITA? Find out how to get ITA through a Program-Specific Express Entry Draw

The Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has opened 17 draws this year and invited 66,475 candidates. However, all these draws were program-specific draws for Canadian Experience Class (CEC) or provincial nominee class candidates.

As a result, thousands of candidates registered under Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) category of Express Entry System are still waiting for the ITA (Invitation to Apply) from Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). So, what is the solution, if you are a FSW candidate?

How to get ITA as a FSW category candidate?

As the IRCC is opening the program-specific draws only, you have to find a way to get the invitation through program-specific draws for CEC or PNP candidates. Is it possible? Let us find out.

Possibilities of getting ITA via CEC category draw

The IRCC is inviting those candidates under Canadian Experience Class (CEC) category, who already have Canadian work experience and are living in the maple leaf country now. Therefore, you can only get the ITA in CEC draw, if you have Canadian work experience, which is not the case with most express entry candidates under Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) category.

How to get the ITA via a PNP category draw?

In the PNP category Express Entry draw, the federal government is inviting those candidates, who have received the provincial nomination through a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

The provincial nomination makes you eligible to get 600 extra CRS points in your EE account and hence, your CRS score increases drastically. This is the reason that CRS score requirement in the PNP category draws is always high. Hence, to get the invitation through a PNP draw, you must apply to a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) and obtain the provincial nomination for Canadian Permanent Residence (PR) visa.

Here are some good PNPs to apply for provincial nomination this year

  • Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP)
  • Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP)
  • Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP)
  • Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)
  • Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP), etc.
