The decision of Justin Trudeau has stunned even his rivals as despite rolling out massive pandemic aid, passing a federal budget and other key legislation with opposition backing over the past year, the Canadian Prime Minister has grumbled that parliament has become dysfunctional.

After the meeting the prime minister said, "Canadians need to choose how we finish the fight against Covid-19 and build back better -- from getting the job done on vaccines, to having people's backs all the way through to the end of this crisis,".

Now, all five parties are gearing up for anaggressive battle at the ballot box. As per the reports, most Canadians approve of government’s pandemic response; however, if the fourth wave of pandemic infections raids during the campaign, this decisionmay backfire too.

Itwas the only opportunity window for liberals, as the cases may rise further, considering the students set to return to school and universities in two weeks, claims the experts. Moreover, the Trudeau’s government has already completed 18 months, which is the average duration for a minority government in the maple leaf country.

Although, the vaccination rate in Canada is among the highest in the world, nearly 62 percent of Canadians fully vaccinated; however, nearly 1,000 new daily Covid-19 cases have been reported across Canada recently.

Trudeau in Power since 2015

Although, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau re-elected to office in 2019, however, he lost his majority in his second term.To re-claim a majority on September 20, the Liberals must win minimum 170 of the 338 seats in the House of Commons, as currently they hold just 155. And as per the recent Abacus Data poll, the Trudeau’s liberal party is in striking distance of a majority, with 37 percent of support.

What is there for immigration aspirants?

If Justin Trudeau’s Liberal party regains majority again, one may expect the lenient immigration policyand process, which they have acknowledgedsince 2015. On the other hand, the conservatives, also known forlaunching federal Express Entry System and streamlining the Canadian immigration process and structure, when they were last in power.

Having said the same, all political parties contesting in upcoming electionshall soon releasetheir formal election platforms, which is likely to give more clarity of what stand they will take on Immigration, if they form government.
