Canadian government to allow cruise ships to Enter Canada on November 1, 2021

The government of Canada has announced that it will allow the cruise ships to enter Canadian water with effect from November 1, 2021.The Government is easing its Global Pandemic caused travel measures on cruise ships, in view of the improved Covid-19 situation in the country as a significant number of Canadian population vaccinated either fully or partially.

Canadian government has been easing its coronavirus travel restrictions gradually since they were first imposed in March 2020. The government still has some restrictions in place, (especially, the non-essential travellers remain unable to enter Canada) which will expire on July 21.

Cruise ships to Enter Canada on 1st November

The announcement of allowing cruise ships in Canada made on July 15, 2021 by Canada’s transport minister Omar Alghabra. In his short speech Mr.Alghabra said,

“I know many of you have been wondering, when we will be able to see ships here again. And as you may remember, the last time we made announcement about cruise ships travel, we said that these vessels would not be allowed in Canadian waters until February 28, 2022.”

He further added, “Now, thanks to extraordinary work Canadians have done, getting vaccinated and following public health advice to get through the global Covid-19 pandemic. Our government is now ready to announce that we are accelerating the timeline for resuming cruise ship activity. I am announcing today that cruise ships will be allowed in Canadian waters as of November 1st of this year.”

This announcement from the Transport minister would mean that cruise ships operators would be able to prepare and be ready for the full operations by the start of the 2022 cruise season,if they can fully comply with public health requirements.

Canada may soon open borders for fully vaccinated Travellers

The office of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also issued a statement on the same day that Canada might open the borders to fully vaccinated Travellers from all parts of the world in early September 2021.
