Canada creates history by Welcoming Record 401,000 new permanent residents in 2021

Canada has set a new record by inviting 401,000 new permanent residents in 2021. This was also the immigration target set for 2021,
now achieved by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The number of new immigrants Canada welcomes each year on PR visa is based on the annual Immigration Levels Plan,
which the government discloses in Parliament.
This year, Canada’s Express Entry System also created a history by issuing most number of invitations (i.e.1,14,431 invitations) in a single year.

The Immigration accounts for almost hundred percent of country’ labour force growth. Approximately, 75 percent of Canada’s population growth comes from immigration, customarily in the economic category. As per reports, by 2036, immigrants will represent up to 30 percent of Canada’s population, compared with 20.7% in 2011.

“Last year, we set an ambitious goal. Today, we achieved it. This is a historic moment for our country, as we welcome the highest number of newcomers in one year in our history. I want to thank all the employees in my department, especially our Operations Sector, who made this possible. Canada is built on immigration, and we will continue to welcome the immigrants that Canada needs to succeed. I can’t wait to see the incredible contributions that our 401,000 new neighbours make in communities across the country.”
