Canada-Visitor visa Applicants before 7 September 2021 need to submit new Application

The Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced an important update for the applicants of Canadian Visitor visa. As per this update, if you have submitted your Visitor visa application before September 7, 2021 and now waiting for a decision and need to travel to Canada, you need to submit a new application.

Visitor Visa Applicants require submitting new application

Canada is one of the leading travel destination in the world, however, in view of the Covid-19 pandemic; Canada was only allowing the essential travels until September 7, 2021. However, now, from 7 September,Canada is also allowing the non-essential travels.

As per the latest update from IRCC, if you have submitted your application before 7 September, you can submit a new application, provided you are travelling for one of the following reasons:

• to be with an immediate family member, who is a Canadian citizen, person registered under Canada’s Indian Act or permanent resident of Canada
• to be with an immediate family member who is in Canada temporarily
• Tobe with an extended family member who is a Canadian citizen, person registered under Canada’s Indian Act or permanent resident of Canada.
• to visit on business (meeting, special event, training)
• to attend an end-of-life ceremony or funeral
• to be present during the final moments of life of a loved one
• to provide care to a critically ill person
• to join a vessel as a marine crew member
• to assume a posting as a diplomat or to travel as an accompanying immediate family member of a diplomat arriving on posting who will also be accredited in Canada
• to handle the affairs of a victim of Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752

However, all such applicants must make certain that they include up-to-date information and, if possible, provide the previous application number as well. Once you submit a new application, the system will withdraw your previous visitor visa application.

As per the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), there is no guarantee of a refund; moreover, you will not get any letter confirming the withdrawal of your application.

If you are not looking to travel to Canada right now

You do not need to do anything, as your application will remain in the queue for processing.

Not anymore interested in traveling to Canada

If you do not wish to travel to Canada anymore, you can request a withdrawal via the web form; however, there is no guarantee that you will get a refund.
