Starting from April 30, 2024, there will be adjustments to Canada's permanent residence fees, as announced by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The department will implement fee increases for certain permanent residence (PR) categories at 9:00:00 AM Eastern Time on the mentioned date. This alteration aligns with Canada's Immigrant and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR) and is determined based on the cumulative percentage change in the Consumer Price Index for Canada, as published by Statistics Canada.

The modified PR fees, applicable from April 2024 to March 2026, are as follows:

Key Highlights of the fee update

The new rate is determined based on the cumulative percentage increase to the Consumer Price Index for Canada, as published by Statistics Canada, for the preceding two years (2022 and 2023), rounded to the nearest five dollars.
Exemptions from the Right of Permanent Residence Fee are granted to certain applicants. Principal applicants in the "Humanitarian and compassionate" and "Public policy" categories are exempt under specific circumstances. However, this fee exemption does not apply universally.
Accompanying family members cannot be included in the applications for permanent residence submitted by members of the "Permit holder" class. Such individuals must apply separately as principal applicants.
