Canada Holds New Express Entry Draw for CEC Candidates

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted a fresh Express Express Entry draw under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) category.

The latest round took place on May 27, 2026, and invited 3,000 candidates to apply for Canadian permanent residence.

This marks the first CEC-specific draw in almost a month. The CRS cut-off score increased slightly compared to the previous CEC round, showing that competition inside the Express Entry pool continues to remain strong despite slower draw activity in recent weeks.

Tie-Breaking Rule

According to IRCC, candidates who had a CRS score of 518 and submitted their profile before the tie-breaking date received invitations in this round.

First CEC Draw After Four Weeks

The latest draw is important because IRCC had not conducted a Canadian Experience Class draw since April 28, 2026. During this period, many candidates in the Express Entry pool were waiting for a new CEC round, especially applicants with Canadian work experience.

The return of CEC invitations indicates that IRCC is continuing to prioritize candidates already working and living in Canada. However, the CRS score staying above 500 also shows that the Express Entry pool remains highly competitive.

CRS Score Rises Again

The previous CEC draw held in April had a CRS cut-off of 514. In the latest round, the score increased to 518. The rise is being linked to the growing number of high-scoring profiles entering the pool during the break between draws.

Many immigration experts believe that less frequent draws are allowing stronger profiles to accumulate, which is keeping CRS scores elevated across most invitation rounds.

Based on Express Entry rounds conducted so far in 2026, IRCC has already issued thousands of invitations across different categories including CEC, Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), French-language proficiency, healthcare occupations, and category-based selections.

CEC draws continue to remain one of the most watched categories because they directly benefit temporary workers and international graduates already inside Canada.

What This Means for Candidates

The latest draw shows that candidates with CRS scores close to or above 518 currently have stronger chances of receiving invitations under the Canadian Experience Class stream.

Applicants with lower CRS scores may still improve their profile through:

  • Higher IELTS or CELPIP language scores
  • Additional Canadian work experience
  • Provincial nomination
  • French-language proficiency
  • Educational upgrades

As IRCC continues conducting targeted draws throughout 2026, candidates are being advised to keep their Express Entry profiles updated and active.

Canada’s latest Express Entry draw has once again highlighted how competitive the immigration system remains in 2026. Even though IRCC resumed CEC invitations after several weeks, the CRS requirement stayed high at 518.

For many candidates already working in Canada, the latest draw is still seen as a positive sign because it confirms that Canadian Experience Class invitations are continuing despite changing immigration priorities.
