Canada has Issued Record 44,124 Invitations in 1st Quarter of 2021

Canada has created a new record for first quarter Express Entry invitations by issuing massive 44,124 invitations in the first quarter of 2021. Hence, it is the largest first quarter since the launch of Express Entry System back in 2015. The feat becomes even bigger, when you know that Canada recorded this at the time, when global pandemic affected many countries all over the world.

Express Entry a brief over view

The federal Express Entry System is a point-based immigration program of Canada that every year register thousands of Canadian Permanent Residence (PR) visa aspirants. It basis on Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) and invites top ranking candidates through its draws every fortnight.

The EE system every year invites a significant number of candidates to apply for Canadian PR visa, and this year too, it plans to invite 108,500 skilled worker candidates through periodic draws of Express Entry System.

Program-specific EE draws in 2021

The year 2021 has been a bit different for EE system in the sense that this year, the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has only conducted the program-specific draws until date.

Until date, the IRCC has issued massive 49,124 invitations to apply for Canadian PR visa. In 2020, global pandemic hit almost every country. Although, some countries imposed some restrictions on immigration, however, Canadian government at no point stopped accepting the new applications for Permanent Residence (PR).

To cop up with the post-pandemic challenges, the IRCC temporarily shifted to program-specific draws and invited candidates who either have Canadian experience or nominated by the Canadian provinces through Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). The IRCC has Program-specific draw strategy in the first quarter of this year as well.

In the first quarter of 2021, IRCC conducted 10 Express Entry draws and six of them were for PNP class candidates only issuing 2,416 invitations. Moreover, four of them only invited CEC category applicants (inviting 41,708 candidates). Last year, the IRCC issued only 22,600 invitations in first quarter, i.e. almost half of the invitations issued this year in the same time.

Upcoming FSW draws

As a result, the Express Entry candidates registered under Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) category are still waiting for their ITA this year.

However, considering the huge annual immigration target, it is likely that Canadian government will soon start the all-program EE draws to invite FSW candidates as well. There will not be a surprise if Express Entry overachieves its invitation target, as it did last year.

Historic 13th February Draw

The Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) surprised everyone with a massive draw on February 13, 2021, wherein it invited record 27,332 Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates to apply for PR visa. This is the largest EE draw since the start of the Express Entry System.

In the EE draw held on April 1, 2021, the IRCC held the second largest draw ever to invite 5,000 CEC candidates, although, similar number of candidates it invited earlier.

Canada Immigration Level Plan

As per Canada immigration plan, the government has a target to invite more than 1 million new immigrants by 2023, i.e. in next three years. A significant number of candidates will be invited under economic immigration programs. Canada will invite 401,000 new permanent residents this year only.

Not getting ITA? Raise your CRS score through Express Entry-aligned PNPs

If you are not getting ITA (Invitation to Apply) for Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) since long, it is wise to enhance your express entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score through Express Entry aligned streams of a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

Most of Canadian provinces have Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) through which they invite, assess, select and nominate the skilled worker applicants for Canadian PR visa.

Some popular Canadian PNPs are:

  • Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP)
  • Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP)
  • Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP)
  • Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP)
  • Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)

All you need to do is choose the appropriate Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) based on your profile and apply to the same to get the provincial nomination. The provincial nominee certificate obtained through a PNP makes you eligible to get 600 additional CRS points in your Express Entry account. Consequently, you become eligible to get the ITA (Invitation to Apply) for Canada PR visa from Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). If you get assistance to confirm your eligibility status and acquire Canadian PR visa this year through Express Entry or Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
