Canada has Increased 2024 target for Express Entry & PNP – Each program to invite over 100,000 immigrants

The Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has increased the annual target for its popular immigration programs, i.e. Express Entry System and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) as per the recently announced Immigration Levels Plan 2024-2026. The government of Canada on 1st November every year releases the updated immigration level plan for next three years.

Immigration Levels plan of Canada

The government of Canada unveiled the particulars of the Immigration Levels Plan for 2024-2026 on November 1, 2023. In alignment with the 2023-25 plan, the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) aims to receive 485,000 new permanent residents in 2024, followed by 500,000 in 2025, and the same number, 500,000, in 2026. Based on this strategy, Canada will have welcomed nearly 1.5 million new immigrants in next 3 years, i.e. by the end of 2026.

Increased Annual target for Express Entry & PNP in 2024

Express Entry target in 2024- As per the immigration levels plan 2024-26, in the year 2024, Canada will admit 110,770 permanent residents under the federal high skilled stream of EE system, including all three categories, i.e.

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program,
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program, and
  • Canadian Experience Class.

This target is relatively high compare to the annual target of previous year, i.e. 82,880 in the year 2023.

The IRCC is now also holding category-based draws to invite candidates with experience in some particular occupation or proficiency in French language. The CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score requirement or CUT OFF in such EE draws is relatively low. Hence, if anyone planning to apply for Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) Visa, year 2024 is the best time to apply for the same with higher target and greater chance of success.

PNP target in 2024- In 2023, the PNPs invited 105,500 immigrants, however, for 2024, the PNP target has increased to 110,000 new permanent residents. The key Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) of Canada are regularly holding immigration draws of their respective PNPs and inviting the candidates to apply for the provincial nomination for the Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) Visa. A few popular and active PNPs of Canada are as follows:

  • Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP)
  • Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP)
  • Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP)
  • Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)
  • Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP)
  • British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP), etc.

If you wish to immigrate to Canada on PR visa in 2024, now is the perfect time to gather the documents, prepare your immigration file and register the profile in the relevant immigration program.
