Canada Express Entry Draw: IRCC Invites 300 Candidates in First Transport Occupations Category Draw

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has held a new Express Entry category-based selection round, inviting candidates with experience in eligible transport occupations to apply for Canadian permanent residence.

IRCC Conducts First Express Entry Draw Under Revamped Transport Occupations Category

Published: August 7, 2026

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has held a new Express Entry category-based selection round, inviting candidates with experience in eligible transport occupations to apply for Canadian permanent residence. The draw marks the first invitation round under the revamped Transport Occupations category, reflecting Canada's continued efforts to address labour shortages in the transportation and logistics sectors.

A total of 300 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were issued in this round. Candidates required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 470 to receive an invitation.

Express Entry Draw Results

  • Draw Date: August 7, 2026

  • Category: Transport Occupations

  • Invitations Issued: 300

  • Minimum CRS Score: 470

  • Selection Type: Category-Based Express Entry Draw

Why This Draw Matters

The introduction of the updated Transport Occupations category demonstrates IRCC's continued focus on selecting skilled professionals who can help meet Canada's growing workforce demands.

The transportation industry remains vital to the Canadian economy, supporting freight movement, public transit, aviation, and logistics operations. Through category-based selection, IRCC can invite candidates whose work experience aligns with occupations facing persistent labour shortages.

Eligible candidates with an active Express Entry profile and qualifying work experience in designated transport occupations had the opportunity to receive an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence through this targeted draw.

Express Entry Draws This Week

IRCC has remained active throughout the week with multiple invitation rounds:

  • August 5, 2026: Canadian Experience Class (CEC) – 3,000 ITAs, CRS 516

  • August 6, 2026: French-language Proficiency – 5,000 ITAs, CRS 391

  • August 7, 2026: Transport Occupations – 300 ITAs, CRS 470

The series of draws highlights IRCC's ongoing strategy of inviting candidates through both program-specific and category-based selections to support Canada's immigration objectives and labour market priorities.

What Should Candidates Do Next?

If you work in an eligible transport occupation, ensure your Express Entry profile is complete and up to date. Candidates can also improve their CRS score by enhancing language test results, obtaining additional educational credentials, or securing a provincial nomination.

As IRCC continues to conduct targeted invitation rounds, maintaining an active and competitive Express Entry profile can improve your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply in future draws.
