The Department of Home Affairs, Australia has once again kept the annual immigration target of 160,000 visa places for the program year 2021-2022.
The program year of Australia starts on 1st July every year and henceforth, the government announces the immigration target for the year, providing the details of visa places to be allocated to each visa category in that particular year.
Annual Immigration target for program year 2021-22
The Aussie government has designed the Migration Program to accomplish a range of economic and social outcomes.As usual, theSkills stream has received the highest number of visa places, i.e. 79,600 for this program year.In 2021-22, Australian Migration Program has decided to have the overall planning level of 160,000 places, containingthe key immigration streams. The DHA has allocated 6,500 visa places for the Skilled Independent (Subclass 189 visa) stream, while the Regional and State/Territory Nominated streamshave received 11, 200 visa places, each in the 2021-22 Migration program.

Australia Migration program 2021-22
The government of Australia set and release the details of the Migration Program every year, as part of the Federal Budget process. The 2021-22 program year will operate from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2022.
What are the policy settings and changes in the 2021-22 Migration Program?
The 2021-22 Migration Program shallmaintain the existing policy settings already in place for the 2020-21 program year. It includes, planning ceiling of 160,000 places, tocontinue the efficient management of the impacts of COVID-19 and enhance the flexibility for increased migration in view ofthe changing health, economic and border conditions in the country.

In the Migration Program 2021-22,federal government has allocated the nomination places to States and Territoriesfor the following visa categories:
