Australia to welcome 190,000 new immigrants in 2023-24- Skills stream Received most visa places

Australian government has announced its Migration Program planning levels for the program year 2023-2024 on May 9, 2023. In this migration plan, Australia has allocated 190,000 visa places for the year 2023-24. Most the new immigrants will be accepted under the Skill Stream. Australia Migration Program for 2023-24

The 2023-24 Migration Program has been precisely shaped to tackle the ongoing and emerging shortages of skilled labour while simplifying the shift towards a net zero emission economy by drawing in skilled and talented professionals with special skillsets. The Program has the following composition:

• Skill stream (137,100 places) – The skill stream intends to enhance the productive capability of the economy and fill skill shortages in the labour market, including regional parts of the country. Popular General Skilled Migration Program (GSM) visa categories under this stream are:
  • Skilled Independent Visa Subclass 189
  • Skilled Nominated Visa Subclass 190
  • Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa Subclass 491

• Family stream (52,500 places) – this stream is principally made up of Partner visas, allowing Australians to reunite with family members from abroad and provide them with pathways to citizenship. Of this stream:

• • 40,500 Partner visas are projected for 2023-24 for planning purposes, noting this category is demand driven and not subject to a upper limit.
  • 3,000 Child visas are projected for 2023-24 for planning purposes, noting this category is demand driven and not subject to a upper limit.

• Special Eligibility stream (400 places) – this stream covers visas for those in special circumstances, comprising permanent residents returning to Australia after a period abroad.

Stream wise Visa place allocation 2023-2024

For last few years, Australia was inviting 160,000 newcomers annually, however, from last year, Australia has started inviting 190,000 or above new immigrants which provides opportunity for Australia immigration aspirants, especially skilled professionals.
