The Australian PM, Mr Scott Morrison, recently announced that the government plans to lift border restrictions for fully vaccinated Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents. However, with the reopening of the border, the mandatory home quarantine measures will come into effect within Australian states and territories. According to the first part of this reopening plan, the government will target Australian citizens and PR holders.
Here is a snippet of what Australian prime minister stated, "It's time to give Australians their lives back. We've saved lives, we've saved livelihoods, but we must work together to ensure that Australians can reclaim the lives that they once had in this country."
As per the plan, Australian citizens and permanent residents would be eligible to quarantine at their homes, basically dismissing the caps limiting the number of citizens and PR holders allowed into Australia. However, all those travellers would need to quarantine for only seven days.
Once the border restrictions are lifted, all the citizens and permanent residents of Australia will be asked to prove their vaccination status as per the standards set by the International Aviation Organization.
Travellers under 12 years of age or who have any medical condition will be considered vaccinated for travelling purposes.
