Atlantic Canada to invite 2000 new Immigrants through Provincial Nominee Programs

The Atlantic Provinces in coordination with the Federal Government has announced to invite 2000 new skilled immigrants in the Atlantic Canada. The decision has been made in view of repeated requests for relaxation in caps.

A New Pilot Program

It’s a pilot program to lure the new immigrants in the region. This joint step from the government and Atlantic Provinces is expected to raise the number of immigrants in the region close to 50%. If this new Pilot Program becomes successful, the number of immigrants may get increased in the coming years. The step was announced after the meeting held at Prince Edward’s Island attended by premiers of all the four Atlantic Provinces along with Immigration Minister John McCallum and other officials. The immigration Minster said that the call for the rise in caps has been noted at federal level.

Atlantic Canada is the crucial Canadian region that comprises four key provinces of Canada, i.e. New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland & Labrador as part. All these provinces have their separate Provincial Nominee Programs, i.e.

  • Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP)
