Alberta's commitment to addressing critical labor shortages was on full display throughout July 2025, as the province conducted a series of highly targeted draws through the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). These draws invited approximately 443 skilled foreign nationals across eight separate rounds, demonstrating a strategic and focused approach to immigration that supports key sectors of the provincial economy.
The draws, which took place between July 3rd and July 25th, were not uniform in their criteria, but were instead tailored to specific pathways and professions. This approach allowed Alberta to select candidates with a wide range of scores, from as low as 49 for law enforcement to a high of 72 for the Alberta Opportunity Stream. The varied scores underscore the program's primary focus on skills and experience in in-demand occupations rather than solely on a high point score.

Filling Labor Gaps in Priority Sectors
Throughout the month, Alberta also targeted other priority sectors facing acute labor shortages. The draws included:
This series of draws collectively invited 443 skilled foreign workers, adding to the province’s workforce and bolstering key industries. The AAIP's use of targeted draws is a clear indication that Alberta is proactively managing its immigration program to meet specific economic demands. This strategic focus offers a promising pathway for skilled workers worldwide who may have lower CRS scores but possess the in-demand experience and skills Alberta needs to thrive.
The province has nearly 2,000 nomination slots remaining for the year, and with a strong pool of applicants, future draws are expected to continue this strategic, sector-specific trend. Skilled workers interested in immigrating to Alberta are advised to ensure their profiles are up-to-date and to monitor the AAIP's official announcements for future opportunities.
