Alberta is accelerating its efforts to attract skilled foreign workers, with the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) extending invitations to over 1,300 candidates through a series of seven draws held in September. The provincial government is actively targeting specific sectors facing labor shortages, aiming to quickly fill critical job vacancies.
A Record-Setting Month for Invitations
From September 2 to September 10, the AAIP issued a total of 1,376 Invitations to Apply (ITAs). This marks the most active month for the program so far in 2025, and with the month only at its midpoint, the final number of invitations could be even higher. The largest draw, which took place on September 4, saw 891 candidates invited through the Alberta Opportunity Stream, the province's most popular immigration pathway.
The draws also focused on priority sectors under the Alberta Express Entry Stream and the Dedicated Health Care Pathway, a strategy that highlights Alberta's commitment to addressing specific workforce needs. Here is a breakdown of the invitations issued:

| September 10, 2025 | Alberta Express Entry Stream – Priority Sectors (Aviation) | 30 | 50 |

The Push to Meet 2025 Targets
Alberta's immigration strategy for 2025 is clearly focused on four key sectors: construction, agriculture, aviation, and healthcare. This targeted approach is in addition to dedicated pathways for tech and law enforcement professionals. The Alberta Opportunity Stream continues to be a cornerstone of the program, with the largest nomination allocation and a massive pool of nearly 42,000 Expressions of Interest.
With a total nomination allocation of 4,875 for 2025, Alberta has already utilized 3,749 spaces as of September 11. This leaves 1,126 nomination spots for the rest of the year. The high volume of recent draws suggests the province is well on its way to reaching its annual immigration goals and bringing in the talent needed to support its growing economy.
