Alberta Invites Over 1,300 Immigration Candidates in Week of Targeted Draws

The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) has announced the results of three significant provincial immigration draws conducted between October 1 and October 7, 2025, issuing a total of 1,324 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to foreign nationals. The draws prioritized candidates in key sectors such as construction and technology, alongside a major invitation round for in-province workers.

The period saw one of the largest single draws this year for the province's immigration programs. This high volume of invitations aligns with Alberta's increased nomination allocation for 2025, which aims to address regional labour market demands and support key economic priorities.

The Alberta Opportunity Stream draw, with 1,003 ITAs, accounted for the highest number of invitations and is consistent with the stream's leading role in the 2025 draw trends thus far.

AAIP Draw Totals for 2025 (Year-to-Date)

The recent rounds bring the total number of draws held in 2025 for these key streams to:

  • Alberta Express Entry Stream – Priority Sectors (Construction): 6 draws
  • Alberta Express Entry Stream – Accelerated Tech Pathway: 7 draws
  • Alberta Opportunity Stream: 10 draws

Understanding the Targeted Streams

  • Alberta Opportunity Stream: Targets temporary foreign workers currently employed full-time in Alberta with a qualifying full-time job offer from an eligible Alberta employer.
  • Accelerated Tech Pathway under Express Entry: For qualified tech professionals who are either working in Alberta or have a valid job offer in an eligible tech occupation within the province. Candidates must meet federal Express Entry system requirements.
  • Priority Sectors (Construction) under Express Entry: For qualified professionals in the construction industry who listed an eligible construction occupation as their primary occupation in their Express Entry profile. Candidates must meet federal Express Entry system requirements.

Increased Nomination Allocation Fuels Expansion

The significant volume of invitations follows the Government of Alberta's announcement on September 9 regarding an increase of 1,528 nominations under the AAIP. This brings the total nomination allocation for 2025 to 6,403, up from the original 4,875 announced in January. This expansion is designed to enhance the province’s ability to recruit talent for in-demand jobs. This increase has led to a redistribution of nomination spaces across various streams:
