ACT Australia held its latest Nomination Invitation Round on 20th August 2020

Canberra, Australia has held its latest ACT Nomination Invitation round on August 20, 2020. This round targeted the candidates with skills critical to supporting the post pandemic economic recovery of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).

The nomination guidelines have been revised by Canberra keeping in mind the current situation. Let us find out the draw details first.

Canberra Matrix Invitation Round: August 20, 2020

  • ACT issued 26 invitations to 457 or 482 visa holders
  • The Matrix nominating Critical occupations received 145 invitations

The minimum point score requirement is indicative and hence, does not a promise if an invitation was issued. The government of Australia has issued instructions to the ACT (Australian Capital Territory) to limit nominations to Canberra residents. Moreover, the skills critical to supporting capital's post pandemic economic recovery will be preferred among them. The next round is likely to occur on or before September 1, 2020.

For Canberra residents

(Matrix submitted before 1 July 2020)

  • All Matrix submissions will be ranked and classified and subsequently, the applicants with an occupation on the ACT Critical Skills List will be chosen and, if ranked, shall get the invitation for ACT nomination.

The 457 / 482 visa holders, who did not nominate an occupation on the ACT Critical Skills List wont be selected and hence, they need to submit a new Matrix.

  • Matrix submissions (with no occupation nominated on the ACT Critical Skills List) will not be ranked and hence, will lapse after 6 months.

  • The top ranked applicants in each stream shall get invitation to apply for ACT nomination.
  • The Matrix can also be ranked as per the Occupation. Once the cap is met, an invitation may not be issued for a particular occupation.

For Applicants from Overseas

As of now, the Canberra Matrix is not open to overseas applications, so the matrix submitted by overseas candidates shall not be ranked.
