What is Canada 67 points System?

Canada immigration requires 67 points from the applicants to qualify. You must have heard this statement from people and online/offline media sources. Does the logic behind it confuse you often, thinking how the Canadian government will calculate these points? Well, this page will answer all your questions in detail.

What is 67-point immigration System of Canada?

The 67-point system belongs to the Federal Express Entry Immigration System of Canada, launched by IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada) in 2015. The successful applicants in the Express Entry get permanent residency invitation. This program registers the applicants’ profile online, evaluates their capability, and allocates them points based on the same. An applicant needs to acquire a minimum of 67 points to qualify the preliminary round. Express entry system has three main categories, i.e.

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program– Meant for overseas skilled worker and professionals
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program- meant for an applicant having experience in a skilled trade.
  • Canadian Experience Class– Meant for the people who already have gained work experience in Canada.

Therefore, in short, if you are applying as a skilled worker from overseas, you need to apply through the first category, i.e. Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) category and obtain minimum 67 points. You can earn these points based on some key selection factors of Express Entry System.

As an express entry applicant, you can earn points based on six key selection factors, i.e.

Experience Maximum 15 points
Age Maximum 12 points
Arranged employment in Canada Maximum 10 points
Adaptability Maximum 10 points

As a Canadian PR applicant through Express Entry System, you get valuable points for all above factors out of 100. If you can score 67 points for all the above factors, you become eligible to enter the Express Entry pool of candidates where IRCC select the candidates through a fortnightly draw and invite them to apply for Canadian permanent residency visa within 60 days.

How to improve your Express entry immigration points for FSW?

  • Obtaining any another degree, diploma, or certificate
