World Education Service (WES) is a non-profit organization which is dedicated towards helping professionals and international students meet their professional and educational goals in Canada and the United States. The organization assesses and advocates for the recognition of international education qualifications.

For any perspective Canada immigration applicant, an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) is a must to apply to certain programs under Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. Thus, the IRCC has designated World Education Services (WES) to provide ECAs for all the degrees and diplomas they have earned outside of Canada.

The WES performs credential assessment of academic accomplishments to the standards in Canada. The ECA report generated by WES helps the institutions like employers, schools, and immigration authorities better understand an applicant’s educational background.

Please note, a report from WES identifies and describes credentials and verify them for authenticity.

With a WES ECA, an applicant can:

  • Meet IRCC’s Educational Credential Assessment requirements (not for Doctor or a Pharmacist)
  • Meet Provincial Nominee Program’s requirements by choosing a particular PNP office as a recipient
  • Qualify for Agri-Food Immigration Pilot under IRCC
  • Get his/her education recognized to pursue the goals in Canada
  • Store his/her ECA report and verified educational documents

Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) cost

For most of the people, the fees for an ECA report cost is approximately $200 CAN plus the delivery fees, additional fees, or a 13% Harmonized Sales Tax. The delivery costs generally depends up on how an applicant choose the report to be sent, as a courier delivery is a bit on expensive side.

Moreover, if a person is a specialist physician, or a pharmacist, then the cost is again a bit higher.

  • Courier delivery (tracking included)
  • S. and international courier services (per address): CAD. $85
  • Next-day courier delivery (per address, Canada only): CAD. $25

Cost for updating a Completed Evaluation Report

  • Adding a new credential: CAD. $100
  • Converting ECA to a Document-by-Document evaluation: CAD. $50
  • Converting ECA to a Course-by-Course evaluation: CAD. $100

Cost for ordering duplicate reports after completed evaluation

  • First report (WES Basic): CAD. $50
  • First report (WES ICAP): CAD. $30
  • Each additional report: CAD. $30

Validity of WES ECA Report

An Express Entry profile is valid for a maximum 1 year period from the date an applicant submits a profile to the IRCC. If an application is not approved and an individual fails to obtain an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canada PR after an year and still want to continue, then he/she needs to complete and submit a new Express Entry profile.

In such circumstances, an applicant can continue using the ECA report while submitting a new Express Entry profile under IRCC for Canada PR. Reason being, an ECA provided by WES is valid for 5 years from the date of issuance.

Evaluation period

An applicant’ international degree or diplomas are generally evaluated by the WES within 35 business days after receiving, reviewing, and approving all documents, and WES fees payment done in full.
