Ontario is one of the major provinces in Canada and a home to some of the top liveable cities in the world, i.e. Ottawa- the capital city of Canada and Toronto- the largest city. Ontario’s proximity to US, also makes it the top choice of immigrants, especially, from India. At present just under one million people from India (5.3%) are settled in Ontario, Canada. If you are also one of the aspirants who wish to move to Ontario, let’s find out how to immigrate to Ontario from India through OINP.
If you wish to apply permanent residency in Ontario from India, you can apply in the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The OINP is the provincial nominee program of Ontario, Canada, through which it invite, assess, and select the suitable people and subsequently, allocate them provincial nomination. The OINP has three main categories, i.e.
If you are a skilled worker with no job offer from Canada, you need to apply in the Human Capital Priorities (HCP) category of the OINP. The HCP category can be further divided in to below sub-categories, i.e.
Human Capital Category
International Graduate categories
Express Entry aligned Stream under HCP:
Why Ontario’s Express Entry- Human Capital Priorities Stream is most popular OINP stream?
Ontario’s Express Entry- Human Capital Priorities Stream is largely popular among the applicants as it doesn’t require any job offer from Canada or compulsory French language skills, etc. It also accept the applicants even with the low CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System Score).
Ontario PNP accept the applicants with the low CRS Score, i.e. as low as 400 CRS points. Hence, if you are registered in Federal Express Entry system with CRS score 400 CRS points, you can apply in OINP- Express Entry HCP stream.
To apply in OINP from India, first step is to apply in Express Entry account and get selected under one of the categories of express entry, i.e. Federal Skilled worker category. OINP will issue notification interest to your express entry account, if your CRS Score is minimum 400 CRS points and you also meet the OINP- Express entry criteria, you will get notification from OINP.
If you apply and get selected for provincial nomination, you will get 600 additional CRS points in express entry. Such huge additional points will ensure that you get ITA (Invitation to apply) for Canada PR from IRCC. Once ITA is received, apply for PR along with all essential documents within 60 days.
The Ontario PNP funds requirement includes the OINP application fee, of $1,500, which covers the cost of processing your application and is non-refundable once application is submitted. This fee need to be paid online by credit card only (VISA or MasterCard) before your application can be submitted.
Once, you have got additional 600 points and Canada PR invitation through Ontario nomination, you also need to pay the normal Canada PR charges as well as the settlement funds requirement, applicable to all the candidates.
