Immigration to Ontario from India (OINP- HCP Stream)

Ontario is one of the central provinces in Canada and home to some of the world's top liveable cities, i.e. Ottawa (Canada's capital city) and Toronto (Canada's largest city). Ontario's proximity to the US also makes it the top choice of immigrants, especially India. At present just under one million people from India (5.3%) are settled in Ontario, Canada. If you are also one aspirant who wish to move to Ontario, let us find out how to immigrate to Ontario from India through OINP.

How to immigrate to Ontario from India through OINP -HCP Stream?

If you wish to apply for permanent residency in Ontario from India, you can apply in the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The OINP is the provincial nominee program of Ontario, Canada, through which it invites, assesses, and selects the suitable people and subsequently allocates them to the provincial nomination. The OINP has three main categories, i.e.

  • Human Capital Category:
  • Business Category:
  • Employer Job Offer Category

If you are a skilled worker with no job offer from Canada, you need to apply in the Human Capital Priorities (HCP) category of the OINP. The HCP category has below two sub-categories:

Human Capital Category

International Graduate categories

  • Masters Graduate Stream
  • PhD Graduate Stream

Express Entry aligned Stream under HCP:

  • Ontario's Express Entry- Human Capital Priorities Stream
  • Ontario's Express Entry French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream
  • Ontario's Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream

Why Ontario's Express Entry- Human Capital Priorities Stream is most popular OINP stream?

Ontario's Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream: is mainly popular among the applicants as it does not require any job offer from Canada or required French language skills, etc. It also accepts the applicants even with the low CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System Score).

What is Ontario PNP minimum CRS score?

Ontario does not have the concept of minimum score requirement anymore, rather the Director of the OINP draw will announce the minimum score CRS score range for each Ontario PNP draw.

How to apply in OINP- Express Entry- Human Capital Priorities Stream from India?

The first step to apply for OINP from India is to register a profile in Express Entry and score eligibility points in Express Entry's one among three categories, i.e. Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) category. OINP will issue notification interest to your express entry account if you meet the OINP- Express entry criteria.

If you apply to OINP and receive a provincial nomination, you will get 600 additional CRS points in your express entry account. Such massive additional points will ensure that you get ITA (Invitation to apply) for Canada PR from IRCC. Once you get ITA, apply for PR along with all essential documents within 60 days.

Ontario PNP funds requirement

The Ontario PNP funds requirement includes the OINP application fee, which covers the cost of processing your application and is non-refundable once you submit the application. You must pay this fee online by credit card only (VISA or MasterCard).

Once, you receive additional 600 CRS points and Canada PR invitation through Ontario nomination, you require paying the standard Canada PR charges and the settlement funds requirement, applicable to all the candidates.
