What is MPNP?

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) provides the permanent residency pathway to talented, skilled workers, business people, etc., interested in living in Manitoba province of Canada. MPNP merely the process to move to and settle in Manitoba.

Manitoba invites suitable immigrants to apply for provincial nomination and subsequently, nominate them for Canadian Permanent Residency to IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada).

Skilled Worker Stream: This key stream of the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) has designed keeping in mind Manitoba employers' needs and requirements. Through this stream, the province selects the skilled, experienced, and trained people from overseas, who possess the skills and experience required in the labour market and subsequently nominated them for Canadian PR to help them move to and settle in the province Manitoba. There are two sub-categories under this stream, i.e.

  • Skilled Workers in Manitoba
  • Skilled Workers Overseas

Business Investor Stream 

Manitoba plans a new Business Investor Stream to replace the existing PNP-B business immigration category. The Business Investor Stream allows Manitoba's province to hire and nominate qualified business investors and entrepreneurs from all over the world, who have the intent and capacity to set up or buy businesses in Manitoba within the first two years of their arrival in Canada. There are two main pathways:

  • The Entrepreneur Pathway
  • The Farm Investor Pathway

How to apply in MPNP?

The MPNP has a three-step process:

  • Submission of EOI (Expression of Interest)
  • The top-scoring qualified candidates get an invitation to submit an MPNP application.
  • Following a thorough assessment, the MPNP nominates successful candidates to make a separate application to Canada's Government for permanent resident visas for you and your family.

Eligibility requirements to apply MPNP

The main requirements to apply in MPNP are as follows:

  • An applicant needs to be between the ages of 21 and 45;
  • He/she must be able to show the employability and adaptability needed of all MPNP applicants;
  • Applicant must have completed, at least, a one-year, post-secondary education or training program for which they received a diploma, degree or certificate;
  • He/she has at least two years of full-time work experience in the past five years;
  • Show their ability to find employment in Manitoba in the same occupation in which they have two years of experience;
  • It includes plans to achieve the appropriate licence or certification required in the case of regulated occupations.
  • Submit a Settlement Plan that demonstrates their genuine intention and ability to establish and settle in Manitoba as a permanent resident economically; and
  • Provide results of a recognized language test taken within the past two years showing they achieved scores equivalent to at least CLB 6 in each component and overall.

Once you submit the EOI, you automatically get a score based on vital parameters of your profile, i.e. education, work experience, language ability, etc. The top-scoring applicants in the pool get an invitation regularly to submit the complete application to the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). A points-based system assesses and select the applicants and decide their ranking in the pool of Expressions of Interest. The MPNP assess the profile of an applicant based on the following factors:

  • your language ability
  • your education
  • your work experience
  • your adaptability and other factors

An applicant gets the point based on all these factors, as they play a vital role in integration and settlement in Manitoba. To be eligible to apply to the MPNP, Skilled Workers Overseas who demonstrate a connection to Manitoba must score at least 60 points on the five factors on self-assessment Worksheet.

MPNP Documents Requirement 2023

Manitoba assess your eligibility based on the documents you submit with your MPNP Online application. You must validate all claims you made in your Expression of Interest (EOI) and all information you provided through the valid supporting documents, i.e.

  • Personal information documents, i.e. birth certificate, passport, marital status documents, etc.
  • Educational documents, i.e. certificate, degree or diploma and transcripts for each program completed by applicant and spouse
  • Valid test results from an approved language test
  • Work experience related documents
  • Evidence for settlement funds
  • Settlement Plan
