Who can Travel to Canada? Find the Measures Applicable Until 31st July 2020

abc The people planning to travel to Canada must keep in mind the measures and updates, which are presently applicable. The Canadian government has imposed some travel measures and issued advisories accordingly. Hence, to avoid any mix-up, one must take note of these measures. These measures are applicable to the foreign nationals from all countries until the end of this month, i.e. 31st July 2020 (for travellers from US, it is 21st July). Who can Travel to Canada? At now, the travellers under below categories can travel to Canada:

  • Canadian citizens
  • Canadian permanent residents
  • person registered under Canada's Indian Act
  • protected person
  • Overseas people who are eligible to move to Canada
Foreign citizens, i.e. including United States (US) citizens, can come to Canada only if they are eligible.
  • Immediate family members
The immediate family member of a Canadian PR or citizen are eligible, however, to be eligible, you need to provide proof that
  • You are an immediate family member of a Canadian permanent resident or citizen and
  • You will be living in Canada for minimum 15 days.
You need to have a quarantine plan showing as to how you will follow the same for 14 days when you land in Canada. This plan is essential. If you are living in the maple leaf country for less than 15 days, you need to fulfil the same requirements like other foreign citizens. The Requirement for all other foreign travellers To be eligible to arrive in Canada as per current measures, you need to fulfil two requirements:
  • You need to be travelling for a necessary (non-discretionary) purpose
  • You need to be either
    • travelling directly from the America
    • exempt from the travel restrictions
The Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is in process to ease out the travels restrictions as well as the other such measures to control the outbreak of Covid-19.
