The USA to allocate 33,000 H-2B visas in the year 2016

In year 2016, the Homeland Security Department of USA shall be issuing close to 33,000 H-2B Visas in the year 2016 beginning 18th January. There are 83 countries which are included in this program for seasonal workers. The US government has decided the limit of 66,000 for H-2B Visas, out of which half of the visas (33,000) will be issued in the first half of the financial year (October 1st to March 31st) and another half will be issued in the second half of the financial year.

The H-2B Visas are allocated twice in one financial year
The remaining visas from the first half of financial year, will be available to the employers require the foreign workers, in the second half of the financial year. However, the visas will not be carried forward in any case to the next financial year. Generally, hotels, resorts, beaches, seafood processing, restaurants, construction works, etc. are included in this category.

Job Categories are defined for seasonal work
The seasonal jobs in US are generally for ten months or so. And it helps the business and industries in US to employ the foreign workers in the peak season to work for them at low wages. The farm jobs are not included under this visa.
