BSMQ has updated the Queensland Skilled Occupation List (QSOL) on October 24, 2018

Queensland - a key Australian state has issued new updates to its Queensland Skilled Occupation List (QSOL) on October 24, 2018. In the latest update, issued by Business and Skilled Migration Queensland (BSMQ) - the state nominating body for the Queensland government has removed some key Engineering occupation from the QSOL. Last occupation list update was issued in the month of September 2018. Let's find out more about the latest changes in the list

New changes to Queensland Skilled Occupation List

As per the latest changes to the Queensland Skilled Occupation List (QSOL), following Engineering occupations have been removed from the list w.e.f. October 24, 2018:

  • Civil Engineer (233211),
  • Electrical Engineer (233311)
  • Mechanical Engineer (233512)

The BSMQ has received several EOIs (Expressions of Interest) for these occupations and hence, the quota has meet the ceiling limit for these occupations. Now Business and Skilled Migration Queensland (BSMQ) won't issue any new invites for these occupations, if you have not got the same till date. In case, presently invited candidates do not respond in the given time, the BSMQ may think of opening these occupation again in future. If such thing happens, you will get the intimation with regards to the same from BSMQ.

Earlier update to the QSOL list

In the last QSOL update released on September 17, 2018 the BSMQ removed the occupation, i.e. Accountant (General) (221111), saying that several expressions of interests already received for this occupation and hence, occupation ceiling has reached to the maximum limit. The similar conditions applied to the opening of this occupation, i.e. if presently invited candidates do not respond in the given time, the BSMQ may think of opening these occupation again in future. If such thing happens, you will get the intimation with regards to the same from BSMQ.

Right Visa Category for Immigration to Queensland in Australia

You can apply for two state nominated visas to move Queensland in Australia, i.e.
  • Skilled Nominated (permanent) Subclass 190 visa- This is Skilled Worker State nominated visa. It's a permanent visa that allows you to live and work in Queensland, Australia on a permanent basis.
  • Skilled Regional (provisional) Visa subclass 489- this visa allows the applicants to live and work in regional Queensland for up to 4 years.

Eligibility Requirements

To obtain the nomination from Queensland an applicant need to meet criteria of Australian Department of Home Affairs(DHA) as well as of Business and Skilled Migration Queensland (BSMQ) for a particular visa category.

DHA Requirements

  • Obtain minimum 65 points or higher on GSM points table, inclusive of state nomination points
  • Get positive skills assessment in your nominated occupation
  • Fulfil the minimum English language requirement
  • Must be under 45 years of age
  • submit additional documents if invited to submit an application for a subclass 190 or subclass 489

BSMQ requirements

  • Need to have the occupation on the QSOL 'Offshore' list
  • Give proof that you have at least of 2 years post-qualification work experience in your nominated occupation. More experience may be required for certain occupations
  • Must be intending to live and work in Queensland from the date that you arrive in Queensland to live permanently
