British Govt approves 3,000 UK Visas for Indians under UK-India Young Professionals Scheme

The British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak has approved 3,000 UK visas for Indians annually, after meeting PM Modi at G20 Bali Summit 2022. The UK will offer these visas to 18-30-year-old degree-educated Indian nationals to come to the UK to live and work for up to 2 years under the new UK-India Young Professionals Scheme.

UK-India Young Professionals Scheme

Rishi Sunak met Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the 17th edition of the G20 Summit in Bali, Indonesia. This was first meeting of first Indian-origin UK PM with PM Modi, since he assumed office last month.

Briefing about this latest scheme, UK government mentioned that India is the first visa-national country to benefit from such a scheme, emphasizing the UK-India Migration and Mobility Partnership agreed to in 2021.

Confirming this scheme, UK Prime Minister's Office shared a tweet saying, "Today the UK-India Young Professionals Scheme was confirmed, offering 3,000 places to 18-30-year-old degree educated Indian nationals to come to the UK to live and work for up to two years,". The new scheme will be reciprocal.

Commenting on this plan, Downing Street has issued a statement, saying, "The launch of the scheme is a significant moment both for our bilateral relationship with India and the UK's wider commitment to forging stronger links with the Indo-Pacific region to strengthen both our economies,"
