The Upcoming Express Entry Draw may Delay for the Positive

Posted - 22, Jun 2017

The Federal Express Entry System is the popular immigration program of Canada that launches its draws every fortnight. The Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) administer the express entry system and its periodic draws. Since the launch of Express Entry System in January 2015, IRCC has followed the fortnightly schedule for express entry draws. Very rarely, we have seen in last couple of years that a draw of express entry launched before or after the due date, i.e. every two weeks (on Wednesday).

Two weeks cycle of Express Entry Draws

Although, IRCC has been particular about their two-week cycle of express entry draws, however, still we have seen it contravening the same and launching the EE draw within a week or after the scheduled date of a fortnight.

The opening of an Express Entry draw is subject to the number of candidates present in the express entry pool, as well as their CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) scores. Moreover, the factors like opening of a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), change in express entry rules or CRS system, candidates in the express entry pool with provincial nomination and skilled trades experience also influence the launch date of an Express Entry Draw.

16th Express Entry Draw of 2017 delayed

The last express entry draw was launched on May 31, 2017; hence, as per the fortnight draw trend, it should have been launched on June 14 2017 (Wednesday). However, it wasnt to be. Hence, the draw has been delayed, considering the scheduled date. However, this delay may bring some positive outcome for the express entry applicants.

June 6, 2017 express Entry Changes- a key factor behind the delay

Recently, some changes made to the express entry system on June 6, 2017, which includes:
  • Points for having a sibling in Canada
  • Points for French Language Proficiency
  • Registering account on Job Bank will be voluntary and not compulsory for the people not having Canadian job offer.
  • Preference to be given to earlier registered Express Entry profiles as tiebreaker, when the minimum qualifying marks (CRS score requirement is same), etc.

However, this time around, there wont be any deduction in the CRS score of any candidate like it happened after November, 2016 Express Entry changes. As per IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada), the profile ranking of the express entry candidates will be updates automatically once they update their profiles and include the details regarding sibling status or proficiency in French Language.

However, the subsequent express entry draw may experience a delay in launching, due to system update after June 6, 2017 Express Entry changes. Hence, if you want to get additional point based on recent express entry changes, you must enter required details regarding sibling status or French proficiency at earliest and update your profile.
