Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) of Canada are the key pathway to get permanent residency in Canada. Canada has different provinces and most of them has their separate provincial nominee program. Every PNP has its own process and requirements.
Some key provincial nominee programs has announced changes in their rules and procedures. These changes have made the programs more convenient for the applicants. Let's take a look at the latest PNP rule changes in last few months.
Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) introduced its Express Entry aligned stream in August 2018 under Labour Market Priorities Stream. Alberta is a key Atlantic province of Canada and a wonderful place for new immigrants. The new stream seems to be more flexible with CRS score being no selection factor and specified occupation depending on every draw.
The first draw of AINP- express entry stream occurred on August 8, 2018, and invited 314 candidates.
EOI System of SINP
Saskatchewan province of Canada replaced its first come, first served system of accepting SINP applications with express entry like EOI (Expression of Interest) system. In the new EOI system the applicants get ample time to register their profile and submit the EOI in the system. Consequently, the province is able to target the candidates, which are suitable for the labour market and economy of the province of Saskatchewan.
The SINP selects the submitted EOIs based on the SINP point assessment grid. The applicant must score minimum 60 points to be eligible for Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). The first EOI based draw of the SINP occurred on August 21, 2018, and invited 466 candidates.
Ontario PNP removed the 400 CRS points requirement
Earlier, Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) had the eligibility criteria in place, according to which, candidates with CRS score 400 or above could only apply in keyOINP streams. Now, the minimum CRS score criteria will be determined by the Director.
The province indicated that it is likely to invite the candidates even below 400 CRS points, in the coming OINP intakes. However, the applicants must have some key features in their profile, i.e. good French language skills (as secondary language), employment offer from province of Ontario, or skills and experience in IT occupation, etc. Ontario PNP has also issued the invite to candidates below 400 CRS points, with similar profile features as mentioned above.
