By Rajneesh Kumar Posted 09, Oct 2020

abc The Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is opening the Parent and Grandparents Program (PGP) for three weeks, i.e. from 12 p.m. EDT on October 13, 2020, until 12 p.m. EST on November 3, 2020.

In this period, the interested and eligible sponsors can submit online Interest to Sponsor form, showing that they want to sponsor their parents or grandparents to Canada.

How PGP Intake process 2020 will work?

The PGP provides great opportunities to the Canadian permanent residents and citizens to sponsor their parents or grandparents to Canada. Find below the PGP intake process 2020:

Step 1- Sponsors Show their interest

From 13 October, the interest to sponsor form will be available. The interested sponsors need to submit the interest to sponsor form until 3rd November 2020.

In this PGP intake, a random selection process will be in place to make certain that the process is fair and transparent. It will also ensure that all interested sponsors have an equal opportunity to submit an interest to sponsor form and subsequently, get equal chance of getting ITA (Invitation to Apply).

Subsequently, the IRCC will hold first round of invitations to apply in this year. It will accept a maximum of 10,000 applications for processing. The invites issued to a sponsor from IRCC are not transferable to another sponsor.

Step 3- Submission of Applications

Invited sponsors will be given 60 days to submit their complete application. In case of delays in giving the documentation due to service interruptions caused by COVID-19 pandemic, IRCC may sanction an extension of 90 days.
