Over 200 Candidates to Apply for Canada PR via Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP)

The Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP)- newly launched immigration program for Atlantic provinces of Canada is functioning fine as vast number of applicants have been endorsed for Canada PR. In a recent meeting of AIPP officials (i.e. federal and provincial politicians) held at Newfoundland, the fact is revealed that over 200 applicants have been sanctioned to apply for Canadian Permanent Residency, since the program started back in March 2017.

Moreover, 400 employers have also been designated to recruit the people through Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP).

Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP)

The AIPP as the title suggest a pilot program specially designed and launched by federal and provincial officials to attract more foreign skilled workers to Atlantic Provinces of Canada, i.e.
  • New Brunswick
  • Newfoundland and Labrador
  • Nova Scotia
  • Prince Edward Island

The IRCC plans to invite 2,000 applicants and their families annually under this three-year pilot program. The federal and provincial governments of Canada manage and operate the AIPP with mutual coordination.

Key Streams of Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP)

The key streams of Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP) are as follows:
  • TheAtlantic High-Skilled Program (AHSP)
  • TheAtlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program (AISP)
  • TheAtlantic International Graduate Program (AIGP)

The federal and provincial governments invite about 2,000 immigrants every year, through all the above-mentioned streams of Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP). Since March 2017, more than 200 people have been invited for the Canada PR by IRCC under the different AIPP streams.

The best thing about hiring foreign skilled workers through AIPP is that employers do not need to acquire a LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) approval. If a candidate is applying for an employer driven stream among the above, he/she first need to obtain the employment offer from the Atlantic Canada.

AIPP Significance

The Immigration refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) consider AIPP significant in terms of magnetizing immigrants to the Atlantic provinces of Canada. This aims to not only increase the immigration rate as well as retention rate of the key Atlantic Provinces, which is lagging behind at sixty percent at the moment compared to other major Canadian provinces, i.e. Alberta and Ontario (close to ninety percent).
