Nova Scotia has launched a new Occupation in Demand Pilot- Updated Existing Streams as well

Nova Scotia- the popular Atlantic province of Canada has announced some key changes in its provincial nominee program, i.e. Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP). In a crucial update, the province of Nova Scotia has launched a new 3-year Immigration Pilot stream for the applicants with a suitable employment offer in any of the targeted intermediate-skilled occupations.

New Occupation in Demand Stream of NSNP

The new Occupation in demand stream of NSNP (Nova Scotia Nominee Program) is likely to target the occupations, which are high in demand in the labour market of the province. Moreover, these occupations may change depending on the current labour market demand in the province of Nova Scotia.

Presently, the new Occupation in Demand Stream of NSNP is open to eligible applicants with a full-time permanent job offer from an employer in Nova Scotia in two key occupations. These occupations fall under Skill Level C of NOC (National Occupational Classification). Here are the two occupations currently open for the new OID stream of NSNP:

  1. NOC 3413 - Nurses' aides, orderlies and patient service associates
  2. NOC 7511 - Transport truck drivers

Other key Requirements to apply in new Occupation in Demand stream

The applicant of this stream need to fulfil the following requirements to apply:
  • Need to have 1 year of work experience related to the job;
  • Must be 21 to 55 years old;
  • Should have a high school diploma;
  • Need to have proper training, skills and/or accreditation for the job;
  • Must prove the minimum level of language proficiency, i.e. equal to Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 4. Provide approved language test results for the same.
  • Need to show the sufficient financial resources to successfully settle in the province of Nova Scotia.

As per the PNP of Nova Scotia, work experience and transferable skills will be verified through the letters of reference from employers and other supporting job related documents.

The people who apply in the new stream of NSNP and remain successful will get the provincial nomination and subsequently, become eligible to apply Canadian permanent residency to the Canadian government or IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada). With this new stream now NSNP offers total 8 immigration pathways to the aspirants of immigration to Canada.

Changes to existing NSNP streams

Nova Scotia Nominee Program has also announced some updates to its existing streams, i.e. Entrepreneur and International Graduate Entrepreneur streams. As per the new update, the existing business owners will now be eligible under the Entrepreneur Stream.

Such applicants can encompass operating expenses towards the minimum investment requirement by the Entrepreneur stream of NSNP. Also, the ownership requirements for international graduates, who wish to launch a business will change from hundred percent to one third only.

As per NSNP, the new changes will open the doors for cooperation with other entrepreneurs and give recent foreign graduates more flexibility in achieving entrepreneurship and immigration goals.
