New Zealand Immigration Rules Changed w.e.f. November 1, 2015 to Promote Immigration to Regions

These changes aim to spread the skilled migrants, investment and subsequent growth and development across the various NZ regions. The Immigration Rules Changes have been particularly introduced to promote or encourage the migration of the skilled workers and entrepreneurs outside the Auckland, i.e. across the various other regions of the New Zealand. For this to happen, the government is also providing extra marks to the candidates applying to settle or work outside Auckland.

What are the New Immigration Changes?

Below are the key changes to the existing Immigration rules of NZ,

  • The skilled Migrant applying for the residence outside Auckland and also having a job offer will get the bonus points 30 (increased three times)
  • Reformation of the labour market test to give employers more assurance, prior in the visa Processing.
  • Doubling the points for entrepreneurs planning to set up businesses in the regions under the
  • Entrepreneur Work Visa points doubled from 20 to 40, in order to give them confidence and ease to start and set up new businesses.
However, the people who have already submitted the EOI prior to November, 1st and have been allocated 10 points already, their points will get increased automatically.

NZ Government is looking to expand the growth across the country

As already discussed, the changes to immigration rules were announced to expand the growth in the country, across the regions of New Zealand. As of now, out of the annual 10,000 skilled migrants in NZ, about 50 percent find their home in Auckland itself.
