Australian Computer Society (ACS) has announced to make key changes in the Skilled Migration Assessment from July 1, 2020. These key changes are as follows:
The ACS is an approved assessing body that does the skills assessment on behalf of the DHA (Department of Home Affairs), Australia as part of the skilled visa application complete process.
Key ACS Changes Applicable from July 1, 2020
The ACS assesses and decides whether an applicant has the compulsory ICT qualifications and experience required for employment in Australia. Let us look at the new changes.
The skilled visa applicants to Australia, applying under the ICT Security specialist ANZSCO occupation code, will be reviewed and assessed as per the distinct criteria compare to the other occupations in this Unit Group. The three occupations under ANZSCO Unit Group 2621 are as follows:
Cyber Security now has its occupation discipline and specifications, which are accepted across the globe as well. Hence, the applicants applying under the ICT Security specialist ANZSCO occupation code will be assessed based on separate parameters.

It means the criteria used to assess the occupation of ICT Security Specialist will no longer apply to the database and system administrator related duties or course content.
Now onwards, to be assessed under this occupation code (i.e. 262112 ICT Security Specialist), the course content and job responsibilities need to be specific to ICT security only.
While assessing the qualification for skilled migration, Analogue, and other non-ICT related electronics subjects will not be accepted anymore.
However, the candidates may provide a subject/course outline to support an assessment of "Electronic" related subjects, which ACS will consider.

Assessment of Skills plays a vital role when you are applying for a skilled visa in Australia. Since it is a skilled visa, the assessment and verification of the skills of an applicant are essential for Australia's immigration department, i.e. DHA.
Hence, Australia has employed several skills assessing authority for conducting the skill assessment. The ACS is the most popular one among all assessing authorities. It assesses the skills of ICT professionals, applying for a skilled visa in Australia.
