IRCC opened 2nd Express Entry Draw in less than a week- Cut off reduced to 467 points

visas default image Canada has opened second express entry draw in just 5 days. The draw took place on 23rd March 2020 for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates. This is one of the rare things to occur as far as frequency of express entry draws is concerned, since the beginning of EE system. It's only the second time in the history of the EE draws that a draw for CEC has occurred.

The last draw was for the candidates with provincial nomination only, however, this draw is for those CEC category foreign skilled workers, who have got at least one year of prior work experience in Canada. Let's find out more about this latest EE draw.

  • The draw is open: The current express entry draw is open from March 23, 2020 to March 24, 2020.
  • CRS score requirement: The CRS score requirement or qualifying marks in the draw is 467 CRS points or above
  • Number of Invitations to be issued: The IRCC to issue a total of 3,232 Canada PR invitations during the draw.
  • Tie-breaking rule:November 25, 2019 at 14:00:35 UTC
The Canadian Experience Class or CEC is one of the three categories of Express Entry System along with FSW (Federal Skilled Worker) and FST (Federal Skilled Trades).

Analysis of Latest Express Entry draw

Since the last draw was for candidates with provincial nomination, hence, the number of invitees were quite low, while the CRS score requirement was very high. However, on the contrary in this CEC category draw, number of invitations have been drastically increased to 3,232 and CRS score requirement have been dropped to 467 points only.

After this CEC specific draw, now the IRCC has invited total 22,600 candidates in the total seven EE draws in 2020.
