IRCC launched 2nd Express Entry Draw in just one week- Qualifying Marks reduced to 288 for specific program

Posted - 31, May 2018

The IRCC has launched the 2nd express entry draw in just a week's time. This draw is in discussion for various reasons. First of all, the draw has been launched much before the expected date (as per the fortnightly cycle). Secondly, this express entry draw has been launched by the IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada) for two specific categories of Express Entry System.

Let's take a look at the key features and statistics of the current EE draw launched for the candidates under below two categories:

  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
  • Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

Analysis of the current EE draw of Specific Programs

The draw launched yesterday, i.e. May 30, was for the above specific programs. It was not the regular express entry draw which primarily invites the candidates under Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP). This is the reason that the qualifying marks or CRS score requirement is unusual in the draw. Usually, the IRCC keeps the CRS score requirement between 400 and 500 mark.

What impact this early draw have on the next regular FSW draw?

Well, key thing to notice in the current program specific draw is that it is inviting the applicant with provincial nomination i.e. the applicants which have 600 (PNP Nomination) + 302 (CRS score) points. This is likely to bring the qualifying marks down in the next FSW regular draw, as 200 candidates with high CRS score (with Provincial nomination) will be less in the draw.
