Key Aspects of Canada PR fee change
As per IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada), the increased fee will help in managing the rising costs of the program and service delivery. The government says that the PR fees
have not been raised since 2002, i.e. the change didn't reflect the upsurge in inflation over the past 18 years and the rising cost of PR operations and processing.
The government claims that the fees is
significantly less costly compared to other countries with similar migration systems, i.e. UK, USA, etc. Hence, the new changes will make certain that from 2022, the fees will be automatically adjusted for inflation every 2 years for all PR applications, i.e. economic, family and humanitarian programs.
