The Parents and Grandparents Program like past few years, has been in news for its active invites and intimations to the interested sponsors in first half of the years. As part of PGP process every year, in January 2019, the IRCC released the Interest to Sponsor form for the individuals willing to sponsor their parents to Canada for permanent residency.
Now, the 2nd stage of the program has completed just now, as the IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada) has finished issuing the Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for sponsorship to the candidates who submitted the Interest to Sponsor form in January month this year.
The IRCC has issued the invitations to all those applicants who submitted the Interest to sponsor form opened in January. Also, the invites were sent in the same order in which, interest to sponsor form was received from the applicants. The government started issuing the invites on 24th April 2019 and completed the same on 27th April 2019.
The sponsors, who have received the Invitation to Apply (ITA) for PGP sponsorship need to submit complete sponsorship application within the period of 60 days. The IRCC has the targetto accept 20,000 complete applications for Parents and Grandparents Program in the year 2019. However, to become a PGP sponsor, you need to be Canadian Citizens or permanent resident above 18 years of age. To become a sponsor under PGP, first of all,an applicant needs to submit the Interest to sponsor form that opens in the month of January every year.
During the 2019 interest to sponsor form intake in January 28 this year, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada accepted 27,000 profiles on first come, first served basis. Surprisingly, within few minutes only the Interest to sponsor form intake reached to its cap limit. The candidates who received invites need to submit complete application for sponsorship within 60 days, along with all required documents. For those, who submitted the form in January but didn't receive invite this time around, the IRCC has kept their details intact for future consideration.
Also, as per IRCC, if it require more sponsors, it may open the Interest to Sponsor form again in 2019. Hence, the people who couldn't submit the form in January or not received the invite in April 2019 shouldn't lose the hope as last year also, the government invited the applicants in the second round as well increasing the target for 2018 from 10K to 17K applications.
