The Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have announced several changes in the federal Express Entry System for Canada immigration, which have been implemented w.e.f. November 19, 2016. These key changes are expected to make key impact on the future of immigration to Canada. However, as per the recent reports, we may see further changes in the EE system in the year 2017.
ITAs may Increase next year with Emphasis on human capital, skills and experience
In 2017, IRCC may issue more ITAs than ever right through the year. Moreover, they plan to put more emphasis on the key aspects, i.e. human capital, skills and experience of the candidates in express entry pool. The approach in this regard revealed in the 24th annual Immigration Law Summit held at Toronto in the ongoing week. In the year 2017 the key changes may include the extra points to the applicants who have siblings in Canada or for to the candidates who speak french. Let’s take a look on the other key changes that will have vital impact on Immigration to Canada via express entry in the year 2017.
Employment offer from Canada
Though, job offer is not mandatory for any applicant to find entry in EE pool or to acquire ITA for PR visa, however, if you have the same, it allocate you extra points. Earlier, 600 CRS points use to get allocated for the LMIA approved job offer; however, with effect from November 19, 2016, it has been reduced to 200 points for NOC – 00 category occupations and 50 points for the other skilled occupations. The other key change that introduced is the points will be allocated for the few job offers without LMIA, i.e. immigrants in Canada on a NAFTA work permit or people who are in Canada as Intra-Company transferee. In such a case, the immigrant worker should have been working in Canada for minimum 12 months and the offer of employment should be made by the same employer, who is mentioned on work permit.
Easy PR pathways for International Students
The other significant change that has been made is to provide easy pathways to PR for the overseas students and graduates in Canada. Earlier, there were no extra points being allocated to International students and ex-overseas students in Canada, however, the points will now be allocated to the Canadian education applicants.
Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) of Canada
The PNPs are now being given more importance in the Canadian immigration process. In the year 2015 just 13 percent of candidates obtained ITA through the Provincial Nominee Certificate from PNPs; however this number is increased to 23 percent in the year 2016.
