Express entry- the most popular point based skilled migration program of Canada has invited increased number of candidates to apply for Canadian Permanent residency despite the disruption caused by the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic.

Amid the whole turmoil and measures being taken to contain this outbreak, Canadian government is continuing to invite the applicants through periodic draws of Express Entry and PNPs (Provincial Nominee Programs).

If you look at the bars above, Express entry invited 17, 500 candidates in the first quarter of 2018, while in 2019 the first quarter invitations were 21, 200, however, this year, this number is relatively higher, i.e. 22,600 invitations issued between 1st January and March 31, 2020. This clearly indicates that the disorder over the ongoing pandemic hasn't affected the Canadian immigration. Canada will not compromise with its immigration plans and programs since it has immigration target of inviting 3,41,000 immigrants this year and by 2022, it is going to invite more than 1 million new immigrants as per its Multiyear immigration plan 2020-2022.
